Well, my name is Reynaldo, AKA iScooter/Scooter. I'm a graphic designer currently on Windows 7 crap OS, with Photoshop CS4 to do my works. I'm more specialized on icon design, and been on graphics for about 1 and half year now. I'm 13 years old, living in US of A. I like to play games, I'm really obsessed with Battlefield 2142. I like Rap, and a little bit of rock. I love basketball and other stuff. Yea stuff....

Whats your main purpose to be in deviantART?

Well, I thought my skills at icons where good enough to bring me to the world of deviants. I plan to share my created icons with the community, love art, and maybe... pleasure myself to some sexy art I find.. ANYWHO, yea, some designs I will include .PSDs for the community to make their own/customizations and share alike.

TIPS ON MAKING ICONS

1) Icons need to fit every background, it helps to test icons under every color background. This way, you will be sure that your icon will not have some problems in a different custom wallpaper.

2) Icons need time dedicated to them, if your in a rush with an icon, must likely its result will be bad. Always take your time while doing icons, I usually make revisions on my icons and update them. For example, I made a Aluminum Unibody MacBook Pro icon, I took 3 revisions to make it even better. I've gotten really good comments on it.

3) People sometimes have the habit of using the filter on Photoshop called "Sharpen" to make their details look better when scaling down an icon. Sharpen is absolutely BAD for your icons. Sometimes it might look good and all, but it makes the icon look choppy and pixely. Re-making icons from scratch in a shorter canvas can be better. Recommended sizes: 512x512 - 256x256 - 128x128 - 32x32 - 16x16.

4) Another tip is to have your icons in all icon formats, such as ICO, ICNS, ICONTAINER. Having all those formats plus a PNG version will really boost your downloads and views since its for Mac OS X and Windows, most people in the world use those 2 operating systems.

5) This one is really important and has been repeated and repeated around the web. NEVER EVER take someone else's icons and creations, modify them on your graphic program, and put them up for download and claim them as yours! That is never a good sign, this might get your reputation on the web really low, and people might disrespect you more. Making your own is always the best.
